8th International Day of Yoga – 2022

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sri Venkateswara Vidyalaya, Tirupati celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga on 21.6.2022 with the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’ focusing on the importance of Yoga in everyone’s life with great zeal and enthusiasm on the school premises.

The programme started with Bhavan’s prayer, followed by the lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest of the Day Swami Sukrutanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Tirupati, the Day’s Guest of Honour Prof. D. Narayana Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, S.R.M. University, Andhra Pradesh, Dr. N. Satyanarayana Raju, Hon. Director & Treasurer, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra, Tirupati.

A YouTube album titled ‘Pancha Tatvalu – Mudralu’, created by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, in collaboration with Sri Venkateswara Vidyalaya was launched by the Guests of the Day on this occasion.

Smt. S. Indira, Principal, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati in her Welcome address introduced the Guests to the audience and said that Yoga brings forth Unity of Soul, Mind, and Body and has to be practiced regularly.

Dr. N. Satyanarayana Raju Garu, in his Presidential address, enumerated Yoga Mudras and their benefits and appreciated the efforts of the people who contributed in creating the album. He also added saying that Yoga is meant for personal discipline and recited a Sanskrit Sloka from Bhagavad Gita “Yogena Chittasya Padena Vachaha” the message of Lord Krishna to Arjuna on the importance of Yoga and advised the students to practice Yoga regularly as it enriches their health and mind.

The day’s guest Prof. D. Narayana Rao Garu appreciated the discipline, values, and holistic education imparted to children in the school. He also said that Yoga is essential in the present scenario, as it helps to reduce stress and improves concentration.
