On the eve of National Sports Day, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s S. V. Vidyalaya celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 29th August 2023 with vigour and enthusiasm. The Day’s Guests were received with the Guard of Honour by the School Band.
Smt. A. Vanisree, Principal, Bhavan’s S.V.Vidyalaya, Tirupati in her Welcome Address, introduced the Guests to the gathering and said that Sports Day helps in enhancing Physical and Social Development among students.
Dr. N. Satyanarayana Raju, Hon. Director & Treasurer, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra presided over the function and emphasized Sports and Games as an integral part of the curriculum which help in enhancing mental alertness, physical strength and spiritual enlightenment.
The event commenced with hoisting of the National Flag and School Flag accompanied by the release of tri-colour balloons. The torch was lighted and handed over to the budding athletes by the Chief Guest, signifying the spirit of competition and integrity. An impressive March Past by students of different Houses led by Head boy and Head Girl and followed by the House Captains resonated throughout the sports ground filling everyone with pride and patriotism. The students took a solemn oath spearheaded by the Sports Secretary P. Bhavik to uphold the true essence of sportsmanship and to bring glory to the School and the Nation.
The School Sport’s Report was briefed by Mr. V. Mohan Babu, Physical Education Teacher by lauding the students for their incredible feat across sports categories.
The Guest of Honour Dr C. Sreeramulu, Principal (Retd.), & N.A.A.C. Member, Tirupati, expressed his delight in connecting with students and mentioned that Sports and Games offer an ideal platform in moulding them for holistic development and advised students to balance their academics and sports.
Shri A. Balaji, District Sports Development Officer, Kho Kho Coach, Chittoor District commended the school for integrating sports in studies and encouraged the students to engage in out door games while minimizing their screen time.
The Day’s Chief Guest Shri J. Venkata Rao, Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin), Tirupati expressed that sportsmanship enables to cope with different challenges one encounters in a positive and efficient way. He insisted the importance of setting a goal in students’ lives and work towards achieving the goal.
Various displays were presented at the event. These included a charming Pom-Pom performance by Pre-Primary students, an elegant Bouquet Drill by Classes I & II highlighting precision and teamwork, a disciplined Mace Drill routine by Class III students, a creative Umbrella Drill by Class IV students, a dynamic Mass Physical Training by Classes V & VI, a strength and coordination display with Dumbbells by Class VII, an agile Hoop performance by Class VIII, a graceful Leziums routine by Class IX, and a combination of Pyramids, Yoga Asanas, and Fabric Drill showcasing flexibility, balance, and teamwork by Class X students.
The event culminated by proposal of Vote of Thanks by Mr. P. Prasad, P.E.T. expressing gratitude to all participants, guests and organizers for making the event, a resounding success.
The Guests were felicitated by the Director Dr. N. Satyanarayana Raju, Principal, Executive and School Managing Committee Members.
The function was witnessed by the Bhavan’s Life Members, Committee Members, School Managing Committee Members, Parents, Students and other invitees.
